On the morning of Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Parish of the Three Hierarchs in Hanover was dressed in celebration as it welcomed a significant milestone in its history. With great solemnity and emotion, the inauguration of the German-Greek Daycare Center and Nursery School “Saint Basil the Great” took place, a project that aims to provide valuable services both to the children of the Greek diaspora and to families from the wider local community of Hanover.
The event began at 11:30 a.m. with the traditional Blessing Service (Agiasmos), officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Augustinos of Germany. His presence gave the day its spiritual character and blessed the first steps of the new institution. Distinguished guests were in attendance, including Dr. Konstantinos Vliagkoftis, Archon Protonotarios of the Holy Great Church of Christ, representatives of Greek organizations, parish members, parents, children, and friends. The Parish Priest, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Gerasimos Fragoulakis, then addressed the audience, recounting the history behind the creation of the daycare center. Fr. Gerasimos also expressed his gratitude to the many volunteers and benefactors whose support made this dream a reality, highlighting the power of collective effort.
Next, the Director of the Daycare Center, Ms. Christina Oikonomidi, presented the educational program, operational philosophy, and goals of the new institution.
